I always keep my eyes open for cube-shape glass beads - I discovered the ones in this lamp at an arts and crafts trade-fair. My senses were overwhelmed by the hubbub, and it is a wonder that I discovered these modest beads. Immediately I was fascinated by their antique character and their milky-matt surfaces. Holding them against the light I noticed the wonderful intensity of their colours: they glowed like matt-polished glass on the beach, rubbed smooth by the waves – never before or since have I found such beads. In this lamp they conjure (together with organza) a lively colour-spectrum with all the nuances of the rainbow.
