The creation of this lampshade was an adventure: I was fascinated by the properties of home-made decorative paper, and thought it must be possible to create paper using organza as the sieve. I had not expected the large dimensions of my organza-sieve to lead to problems – at one point half my studio stood under water! However, the effort was worth it – the result of this experiment presents an image of liquid lava bursting through the lampshade's fragile crust.
