The angular yet curving form of this simple lampshade inspired me to bring out the wonderful wood-like grain of the coarse natural silk in different ways on each of its four sides. Using Indian ink I worked on one side with a soft paintbrush, on the next with a hard pen, on another with a black pencil... and the fourth side I left plain.
